Chris Stewart says: "Peter Bosman was the first to make a Crayford from the ATM group, done LONG before that style of focuser became recognised, let alone popular. Must be at least 15 years old now." And Johann replied: "This is what I admire about ATMers - there is always so much scope for innovation, creativity and making do with what materials are available. I really like this particular implementation of the Crayford. It has such a nice smooth flop-free motion. I also liked the fold-out spring-loading in this case. If I remember correctly, the draw tube does not have a flat contact area and the cross axle drives the cylinder directly on the edge. A couple of years ago now, I downloaded your well documented design from the Jhb website and have always been meaning to make one. I am definitely going to make one soon. They are so much nicer and definitely superior to most of the expensive commercial rubbish out there."
