ScopeX 2019 General overview
This was the 18th ScopeX.  
Focus areas were:
- the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing and
- the International Year of the Periodic Table (IYPT) declared by UNESCO, marking the 150th anniversary of the Mendeleev periodic table.
The Programme covers all events on the day.
Some new aspects introduced include:

Digital Astrophoto Competition:
For the first time since 2002, the competition was run as a purely digital competition which allowed people from across the country to submit their photos. Previously entrants had to print their photos and present these at ScopeX.

Additional participants:
The donation of the telescopes last year (sponsored by Jean-Pierre Grootaerd of Sterren Schitteren voor Iedereen in Belgium) which were awarded to Brain Waves Development and the Girl Guides of South Africa bore fruit. Both entities supported ScopeX with outreach in run up to ScopeX as well as at ScopeX.

Garsfontein Highschool in Tswana:
The Robotics Club supported ScopeX with an interactive exhibit at ScopeX with displays of pre-programmed Lego Mindstorm robots and the into Orbit Challenge.

Outreach sessions were held before ScopeX:
ScopeX team members supported several outreach sessions in the run up of ScopeX such as the ASSA Pretoria Centre at the Pretoria Zoo, events hosted by, The Girl Guides of South Africa, The Japanese School in Johannesburg.

Raffle winners
Many thanks to the sponsors of the Raffle Prizes, CANON SA and Singer Photographic:
- CANON EOS RP body & RF 35mm F1.8 lens donated by CANON SA was won by Rajeev Gopal.
- StarNavigator NG 90mm Achromatic Refractor Telescope donated by Singer Photographic was won by Francois Nortje.
